Dimethandrolone undecanoate is an experimental oral and injectable androgen/anabolic steroid (AAS) and progestogen developed primarily as a potential male contraceptive. It acts as a prodrug of dimethandrolone, which is a potent agonist of both the androgen receptor and the progesterone receptor. By activating these receptors, it suppresses gonadotropin secretion (LH and FSH), leading to reversible suppression of sperm production in men. Unlike testosterone, it is not aromatized to estrogens or reduced by 5α-reductase, potentially reducing certain side effects such as prostate stimulation.
