Overview
Dinalbuphine sebacate (DS), also known by its brand name Naldebain, is a newly introduced non-controlled opioid medication developed by Lumosa Therapeutics Co. Ltd. It is an extended-release prodrug of nalbuphine, designed to provide long-lasting analgesic effects. Its mechanism of action involves acting as a partial agonist at the κ-opioid receptor and a weak antagonist at the µ-opioid receptor. Compared to traditional opioids like morphine, dinalbuphine sebacate is noted for producing less dependence, less sedation, and less respiratory depression, with minimal side effects and no addiction potential. It has been successfully used for postoperative pain management, including in laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bariatric surgery.
