Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dingguiyou is a Chinese patent medicine (CPM) developed by Chengdu Shangke Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., primarily indicated for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), particularly the diarrhea-predominant subtype (IBS-D). It is a fixed-dose combination of clove oil (extracted from *Syzygium aromaticum*) and cinnamon oil (extracted from *Cinnamomum cassia*). The therapeutic efficacy of Dingguiyou is attributed to its primary bioactive constituents, eugenol and cinnamaldehyde, which exert antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic effects. The drug works by regulating gastrointestinal motility and reducing visceral hypersensitivity, often through the modulation of transient receptor potential (TRP) channels. It is typically formulated as soft capsules for oral administration and has been approved for marketing in China.
