Overview

Dingluo nasal drops is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, for the acute treatment of migraine attacks. The drug is administered intranasally, a route intended to facilitate rapid absorption and potentially direct delivery to the central nervous system via the olfactory and trigeminal nerve pathways, thereby bypassing the blood-brain barrier. The formulation is based on the TCM therapeutic principle of extinguishing wind and stabilizing the collaterals to address the underlying pathology of vascular headaches. It is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China to assess its efficacy in reducing pain intensity and associated symptoms during acute migraine episodes in adults.
