Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dingxin Recipe (DXR) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula used primarily for cardiovascular diseases such as arrhythmias and coronary heart disease. It is a multi-herbal compound with several versions, including Dingxin Recipe III (DXR III) and IV (DXR IV), which have been further developed from the original formulation. The main ingredients of DXR IV are the dried rhizome of Coptis chinensis Franch., root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, seed of Ziziphus jujuba Mill., and fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum. Mechanistically, DXR exerts its effects by modulating lipid metabolism—specifically through pathways involving LXR-α/SREBP1—and by regulating gut microbiota composition. In animal models, it has demonstrated efficacy in reducing atherosclerotic plaque formation and improving hyperlipidemia-related phenotypes by enhancing gut barrier function via the SCFAs/GPR43 pathway[1][2].
