Overview

Dinutuximab is a chimeric human-mouse IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets GD2, a disialoganglioside highly expressed on neuroblastoma and other tumors of neuroectodermal origin, with limited expression on normal tissues[2][5][6]. By binding to GD2, dinutuximab induces tumor cell lysis through both antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), leading to apoptosis and inhibition of tumor proliferation[2][5][6]. It is used in combination with granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interleukin-2 (IL-2), and 13-cis-retinoic acid as post-consolidation therapy for children with high-risk neuroblastoma who have responded at least partially to prior multimodal therapy[1][4]. The drug was originally developed by researchers at the University of California San Diego and brought into clinical trials funded by the National Cancer Institute[7].
