Overview

Dinutuximab is a chimeric human-mouse IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets disialoganglioside GD2, a disialoganglioside highly expressed on neuroblastoma and other tumors of neuroectodermal origin, with limited expression on normal tissues. By binding to GD2, dinutuximab induces cell lysis through both antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), leading to tumor cell apoptosis and inhibition of proliferation. It is primarily used in combination with other agents such as granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interleukin-2 (IL-2), 13-cis-retinoic acid, and often following multiagent chemotherapy for the treatment of pediatric patients with high-risk neuroblastoma who have responded at least partially to prior therapy[1][4][5][6]. Dinutuximab was developed by United Therapeutics.
