diosmiplex

Diosmiplex (brand name Vasculera) is a prescription medical food used for the clinical dietary management of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and related conditions such as varicose veins, lower extremity edema, stasis dermatitis, and venous ulcers. It consists of micronized, highly purified diosmin (a citrus-derived flavonoid glycoside) and Alka4-complex, a proprietary blend of alkaline buffering agents including magnesium hydroxide, potassium chloride, potassium hydroxide, and calcium carbonate. Diosmiplex works by increasing venous tone through enhanced noradrenaline sensitivity, improving lymphatic drainage, and reducing capillary hyperpermeability and inflammation. The Alka4-complex component is specifically designed to manage local metabolic acidosis in the venous environment. It is currently being evaluated by Corewell Health (formerly Spectrum Health) for its efficacy in reducing post-procedural pain, bruising, and edema following lower extremity venous interventions.
