diphemanil

Diphemanil (commonly used as its salt, diphemanil methylsulfate) is a quaternary ammonium anticholinergic drug. It acts primarily as an antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, especially the M3 subtype. By blocking these receptors, it decreases secretory excretion of stomach acids, saliva, and sweat. Diphemanil is indicated for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease, gastric hyperacidity, hypermotility in gastritis and pylorospasm, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Its mechanism involves inhibition of parasympathetic activity in smooth muscle and glandular tissue[1][4][6][8].
