DTaP vaccine is a combination immunizing agent used to prevent diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), and pertussis (whooping cough) in children. It contains inactivated toxins and bacterial components that help the body develop immunity against these potentially life-threatening diseases. The vaccine is administered as a five-dose series in children between 6 weeks and 6 years of age (before the child's 7th birthday).
