Overview

The diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTcP) vaccine developed by Zhejiang Weixin Biological Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of AIM Vaccine) is a genetically engineered, three-component acellular combination vaccine. It is designed for the primary immunization of infants to prevent diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough (pertussis). Unlike traditional whole-cell vaccines, this acellular formulation utilizes a gene expression-based purification and detoxification process, making it the first genetically engineered three-component pertussis vaccine in China. The vaccine targets the diphtheria toxin, tetanus toxin, and specific pertussis antigens. Clinical data from Phase III trials indicate a favorable safety profile and superior immunogenicity against pertussis compared to standard combination vaccines.
