Overview

The diphtheria + tetanus + acellular pertussis + hepatitis B + haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine (DTaP-HB-PRP~T) is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed for pediatric immunization. It provides active immunity against five major childhood pathogens: *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*, *Clostridium tetani*, *Bordetella pertussis*, Hepatitis B virus (HBV), and *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib). The vaccine utilizes acellular pertussis (aP) antigens, which typically include pertussis toxoid and filamentous hemagglutinin, offering a improved safety profile with fewer local reactions compared to whole-cell pertussis (wP) vaccines. The Hib component is a conjugate vaccine consisting of the polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP) capsular polysaccharide covalently linked to a tetanus toxoid (T) carrier protein to ensure a T-cell dependent immune response in young infants. By combining these five components into a single injection, the vaccine aims to simplify complex immunization schedules, reduce the number of clinic visits, and improve overall vaccination coverage.
