Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed by Beijing Zhifei Lvzhu Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products. The vaccine is designed to provide active immunization against five major childhood diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis (polio), and invasive infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). It utilizes a "component" acellular pertussis technology, which involves the use of individually purified and well-defined pertussis antigens (such as pertussis toxoid and filamentous hemagglutinin) rather than traditional co-purified mixtures. This approach is intended to improve manufacturing consistency and potentially reduce adverse reactions. The vaccine is currently in Phase III clinical development in China, where it is being evaluated for safety and immunogenicity in infants, often compared against established pentavalent vaccines like Pentaxim.
