Overview

DTwP-HepB-Hib-IPV is a hexavalent combination vaccine developed by Bio Farma for the active immunization of infants against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b, and poliomyelitis. This specific formulation is notable for its use of whole-cell pertussis (wP) rather than acellular pertussis (aP), which is commonly used in many international markets. The vaccine combines diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, inactivated whole-cell Bordetella pertussis, recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a carrier protein, and inactivated poliovirus (IPV) types 1, 2, and 3. It is typically administered via intramuscular injection in a multi-dose primary series and is adjuvanted with aluminum phosphate to enhance the immune response.
