Diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis adsorbed is a combination vaccine used for active immunization against three serious bacterial diseases: diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), and pertussis (whooping cough). The vaccine contains inactivated toxins (toxoids) from *Corynebacterium diphtheriae* (diphtheria) and *Clostridium tetani* (tetanus), as well as purified antigens from *Bordetella pertussis*. It works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against these pathogens without causing disease. This provides protection if the person is later exposed to any of these bacteria. The primary indication is prevention of these infections in infants, children, adolescents, adults, pregnant women (to protect newborns), healthcare workers, or anyone at risk of exposure[5][6][8]. Multiple formulations exist for different age groups: DTaP for children under 7 years old; Tdap as a booster for older children (>7 years), adolescents, adults, or pregnant women[1][3][4].
