Diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis-inactivated poliovirus vaccine (DTaP-IPV) is a combination vaccine designed to protect against four serious infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), pertussis (whooping cough), and polio. The vaccine contains inactivated forms of the toxins produced by the bacteria that cause diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis as well as inactivated poliovirus. It works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against these pathogens without causing disease. This combination is administered intramuscularly to children aged 4–6 years before their seventh birthday. The primary indication is prevention of these four diseases[1][2].
