Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Chinese DT vaccine refers to the locally manufactured diphtheria and tetanus toxoids vaccine (adsorbed) used in the People's Republic of China. It is a combination vaccine containing purified diphtheria toxoid and tetanus toxoid adsorbed onto an aluminum-based adjuvant, typically aluminum hydroxide. This vaccine is primarily used for active immunization against diphtheria and tetanus, often administered as a booster dose to children between 6 and 8 years of age. In the context of clinical research, such as trials conducted by GSK for the introduction of Boostrix (dTpa) in China, the 'Chinese DT vaccine' serves as the active control or comparator to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of international vaccines against the established local standard of care. It is produced by domestic Chinese entities, most notably the institutes under the China National Biotec Group (CNBG).
