diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine

A combination vaccine indicated for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). It consists of diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, and acellular components of Bordetella pertussis (such as inactivated pertussis toxin, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin, and fimbriae), adsorbed onto an aluminum-based adjuvant. It is administered intramuscularly and stimulates active immunity by inducing antibody production against the toxins and antigens of the three bacteria, thereby preventing the associated diseases[1][3][7]. The DTaP formulation is primarily for children under 7 years; Tdap is for older children, adolescents, and adults[2][6][7].
