Overview

The DTaP-HepB-Hib-MenAC vaccine is a heptavalent combination candidate developed by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to provide comprehensive protection against seven major pediatric pathogens in a single immunization series. It incorporates diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis antigens (typically pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin), recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen, and capsular polysaccharides from *Haemophilus influenzae* type b and *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C, each conjugated to a carrier protein (such as tetanus toxoid). This combination was designed to simplify infant vaccination schedules by replacing multiple injections. While it demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in Phase II clinical trials during the mid-2000s, the vaccine was not advanced to global commercialization, as GSK and other manufacturers prioritized hexavalent vaccines containing inactivated poliovirus (IPV) instead of meningococcal antigens, or separate meningococcal ACWY conjugate vaccines.
