Diphtheria toxoid + tetanus toxoid + haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine is a combination vaccine used for the active immunization of infants and children against diphtheria, tetanus, and invasive diseases caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib). This formulation is specifically indicated for pediatric patients in whom the pertussis component (found in standard DTaP-Hib vaccines) is contraindicated or not desired. The vaccine works by inducing the production of specific IgG antibodies: the diphtheria and tetanus toxoids (formalin-inactivated toxins) provide protection against the systemic effects of *Corynebacterium diphtheriae* and *Clostridium tetani*, while the Hib component—comprising the polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP) capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a carrier protein—elicits a T-cell dependent immune response against Hib, which is a major cause of meningitis and pneumonia in young children.
