Diplatin phosphate (SBP01) is a novel dinuclear platinum(II) complex developed by Beijing Shuobai Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, particularly gastric and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinomas. Unlike conventional mononuclear platinum drugs such as cisplatin or oxaliplatin, dinuclear platinum complexes are capable of forming flexible, long-range DNA cross-links. These unique DNA adducts are less susceptible to recognition and repair by standard cellular mechanisms, potentially allowing the drug to overcome resistance seen with first-generation platinum therapies. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials in China, where it has shown potential in treating tumors that are refractory to standard chemotherapy regimens.
