Diploid wheat hull extract is a botanical extract derived from the fibrous hulls of ancestral diploid wheat species (such as *Triticum monococcum* or einkorn) of Middle Eastern origin. Developed by researchers at Colorado State University, the extract has been investigated for its potential chemopreventive and anti-cancer properties, particularly against breast cancer. In vitro studies have demonstrated that the extract, which is rich in unique small-molecule metabolites, can significantly inhibit the proliferation of both estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) and estrogen receptor-negative (ER-) human breast cancer cell lines, whereas extracts from domesticated tetraploid and hexaploid wheat varieties show little to no inhibitory effect.
