Dipraglurant is a small molecule negative allosteric modulator of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5). It is being developed primarily by Addex Therapeutics for the treatment of levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) associated with Parkinson's disease. The drug works by reducing abnormal glutamate signaling, which contributes to dyskinesia and other motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease. In addition to LID, dipraglurant has been investigated in clinical trials for dystonia, blepharospasm, major depressive disorder, stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury recovery, and other neurological conditions. It is administered orally and has shown rapid absorption and central nervous system penetration in preclinical studies[1][2][3][4][6].
