Diprobase Cream (Bayer)

Diprobase Cream is a paraffin-based topical emollient used for the symptomatic treatment and relief of dry skin conditions, including eczema, atopic dermatitis, and psoriasis. Manufactured by Bayer, the formulation contains white soft paraffin and liquid paraffin, which act by forming an occlusive oily layer on the skin surface. This physical barrier prevents water loss from the stratum corneum and helps restore the skin's natural barrier function. The cream also contains chlorocresol, which provides antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It was notably evaluated in the Barrier Enhancement for Eczema Prevention (BEEP) trial to determine if early-life application could prevent the development of atopic dermatitis in high-risk infants, though the study found no significant preventative benefit.
