Dipterocarpol is a dammarane-type triterpenoid primarily isolated from the oleoresin of trees in the *Dipterocarpus* genus, such as *Dipterocarpus alatus*. It is recognized as a chemical marker for these resins and has been investigated for its potential antineoplastic properties. Research indicates that dipterocarpol exhibits cytotoxic effects against several human cancer cell lines, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2), T-cell leukemia (Jurkat), and cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa). The compound appears to induce apoptosis, and its biological activity may be enhanced through synergistic interactions with other sesquiterpenes and triterpenes present in the natural resin. Beyond its pharmacological interest, dipterocarpol is also found in resinous byproducts of biodiesel production from *D. alatus*.
