Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diridavumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the hemagglutinin (HA) stalk region of influenza A virus. By binding to the HA stalk domain, diridavumab stabilizes the prefusion structure of HA and prevents pH-dependent fusion between viral and cellular membranes in endosomes. This mechanism inhibits viral entry into host cells and blocks infection. Diridavumab was developed for the treatment and prevention of influenza A infections. The drug was originally discovered by Crucell (a Dutch biopharmaceutical company) in collaboration with The Scripps Research Institute and later developed by Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson (now Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine). Clinical development reached phase 2 trials for influenza A virus H1N1 subtype but has since been discontinued[3][4][5][7].
