Dirlotapide is a small molecule drug used for the management of obesity in dogs. It acts as a selective inhibitor of microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP), which is pivotal for the absorption and distribution of dietary fat. By inhibiting intestinal MTP, dirlotapide reduces plasma cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations and decreases intestinal fat absorption.
