Overview

DISC-0998 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets hemojuvelin (HJV), a key regulator of hepcidin production. It is engineered with Q250L/M429L (QL-mutation) in the Fc region to alter binding to the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), thereby increasing its pharmacokinetic half-life. The drug is designed to suppress hepcidin, leading to increased serum iron and transferrin saturation, which may benefit patients with anemia of inflammation and related disorders. Preclinical studies have demonstrated potent biological activity, low immunogenicity potential, favorable pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and extended duration of action compared to similar agents. DISC-0998 is being developed for anemia associated with inflammatory diseases[1][3][5][7][9].
