Overview

Discoloration Defense is a topical skin-brightening serum developed by SkinCeuticals. It is a hydroquinone-free cosmetic formulation designed to reduce the appearance of skin discoloration, including dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and post-inflammatory discoloration. The serum contains a combination of active ingredients: 3% tranexamic acid, 1% kojic acid, 5% niacinamide (vitamin B3), and 5% HEPES (hydroxyethylpiperazine ethane sulfonic acid). These components work synergistically to target melanin production pathways and promote skin cell turnover, resulting in a more even skin tone and improved brightness. It is marketed as a cosmetic product for topical application to the face, rather than a prescription pharmaceutical drug.
