Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ditan Qingnao formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal composition developed by The Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed to treat the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, which are often resistant to standard antipsychotic medications. The formula is based on TCM principles of clearing phlegm (Ditan) and refreshing the brain (Qingnao). Research into its mechanism of action focuses on its ability to modulate inflammatory factors and reduce neuroinflammation, which is hypothesized to play a role in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. It is currently being evaluated in randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trials to establish its efficacy and safety as an adjunctive or primary treatment for psychiatric symptoms.
