Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ditaxel is a non-ethanol formulation of docetaxel developed by Boryung Pharmaceutical for the treatment of breast cancer. As a taxane-based chemotherapy, it works by binding to the β-subunit of tubulin, which stabilizes microtubules and prevents their disassembly. This action arrests the cell cycle at the G2/M phase, ultimately leading to apoptosis of the cancer cells. The non-ethanol formulation was specifically designed to mitigate ethanol-related side effects, such as hypersensitivity and symptoms of alcohol intoxication, which are common with traditional docetaxel formulations. It is utilized in both neoadjuvant and adjuvant settings for breast cancer patients.
