diwuyanggan

Diwuyanggan (DWYG) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription formulated as a hospital preparation and authorized drug in China. It consists of five herbal extracts in specific proportions by weight: Rehmannia glutinosa (20%), Artemisia scoparia (33.3%), Curcuma longa (13.4%), Schisandra chinensis (20%), and Glycyrrhiza uralensis (13.4%)[6][1]. DWYG has been studied for its effects on liver diseases, including hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma, with reported activities such as regulating liver regeneration, modulating immune responses, ameliorating liver injury and fibrosis, antiviral effects, and suppressing hepatic cancer[6][8][2]. Mechanistically, it appears to act through modulation of the hepatic stem cell microenvironment and regulation of signaling pathways such as Ras/Raf/Mek/Erk[9], reversing gene expression changes associated with liver injury or cancer[8]. Over 200 compounds have been identified within the formulation using advanced mass spectrometry techniques[8].
