Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dizisan is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing cinnarizine (20 mg) and dimenhydrinate (40 mg), developed and marketed by Sanrey Therapeutics. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of vertigo of various origins, motion sickness, and inner ear balance disorders. Cinnarizine acts as a calcium channel blocker (targeting L-type and T-type voltage-gated calcium channels) to improve microcirculation in the inner ear and reduce vestibular over-excitation, while also exhibiting antihistaminic properties. Dimenhydrinate, a combination of diphenhydramine and 8-chlorotheophylline, acts as an antihistamine (targeting histamine H1 receptors) and anticholinergic agent (targeting muscarinic acetylcholine receptors) to suppress the vestibular system and the brain's vomiting center. Together, these two active ingredients provide a dual peripheral and central mechanism of action to effectively control dizziness, spinning sensations, nausea, and vomiting.
