Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DKF-MB101 is a long-acting, sustained-release microsphere formulation of the immunosuppressant tacrolimus, currently under development by Dongkook Pharmaceutical. Utilizing Dongkook's proprietary microsphere drug delivery system (DDS) platform, DKF-MB101 is designed as a once-monthly injection to improve patient compliance and maintain stable therapeutic drug levels compared to daily oral tacrolimus. Tacrolimus is a calcineurin inhibitor that binds to intracellular FKBP12, forming a complex that inhibits calcineurin phosphatase activity, thereby blocking T-cell activation and cytokine production. DKF-MB101 is being developed for immunosuppression, particularly to prevent transplant rejection.
