**dl-copper-cysteine** is an experimental racemic copper(II)-cysteine coordination nanoparticle system composed of Cu2+ and DL-cysteine ligands. In a preclinical 4T1 murine breast-cancer model, intratumoral administration combined with near-infrared irradiation was evaluated as a dual photothermal therapy and chemodynamic therapy approach. The nanoparticles generate heat under near-infrared exposure and promote reactive oxygen species formation through copper-mediated redox catalysis, producing tumor-cell death and reducing metastatic behavior in the reported model.
