DLBS3233 is a standardized bioactive fraction derived from two Indonesian plants, Cinnamomum burmanii and Lagerstroemia speciosa. It is developed as an insulin sensitizer for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The extract acts primarily by enhancing insulin signal transduction, increasing the expression of genes involved in glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K), Akt, and glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4). It also stimulates adiponectin production and modulates lipoprotein metabolism. Clinical studies have shown that DLBS3233 improves insulin resistance, glycemic control, lipid profile, β-cell performance, and is well tolerated with a low risk of hypoglycemia[1][2][5][8]. The drug was developed using patented extraction technology.
