Overview

DLX-7, also known as tabernanthalog (TBG), is a next-generation, non-hallucinogenic analog of the psychedelic alkaloid ibogaine being developed by Delix Therapeutics as a small-molecule psychoplastogen for the treatment of substance use disorders and other central nervous system diseases.[7][9] It is designed to retain ibogaine’s potent, rapid, and enduring neuroplasticity-promoting and anti-addictive properties while eliminating the cardiotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and intense hallucinogenic effects that limit ibogaine’s clinical utility, functioning as a serotonin 2A receptor (5-HT2A) agonist that enhances structural and functional neural plasticity in key brain circuits implicated in addiction and mood regulation.[7][9] Preclinical data, including work published in Nature, show that DLX-7 reduces alcohol- and heroin-seeking behavior in animal models, supporting its development as a scalable, orally available, disease-modifying therapy for stimulant, opioid, and broader pan-substance abuse indications.[5][6][9]
