DM-1

DM-1 is a synthetic curcumin analog that has demonstrated antitumor effects, particularly in the context of breast cancer treatment. It functions as an adjuvant in chemotherapy, enhancing the activity of other antitumor drugs like paclitaxel. DM-1 promotes apoptosis in tumor cells, with its mechanism primarily involving the activation of phosphorylated caspase 3, leading to reduced tumor growth, decreased tumor volume, and a significant reduction in metastasis. This action also contributes to a decrease in cachexia associated with tumors.
