Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DM-1992 is an investigational, gastric-retentive, extended-release formulation of levodopa and carbidopa developed by Assertio (formerly Depomed) for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The product utilizes the proprietary AcuForm drug delivery technology, which allows the tablet to swell and be retained in the stomach for an extended period, providing a continuous release of levodopa into the upper small intestine, its primary site of absorption. This formulation is designed to maintain more consistent plasma levels of levodopa, potentially reducing the "OFF" periods and motor fluctuations associated with standard immediate-release levodopa/carbidopa therapy in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease.
