Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DMab-1 is a monoclonal antibody that specifically recognizes the GalNAc beta1-4(NeuAc alpha 2-3)Gal-terminal epitope, which is common to ganglioside GM2 and GalNAC-GD1a. It has been shown to induce severe necrosis in GM2-rich cultures of human glioma cell lines in vitro. The antibody's binding affinity is influenced by the fatty acid composition of the GM2 ganglioside. DMab-1 is part of a series of five IgM monoclonal antibodies (DMAb-1 through DMAb-5) developed to investigate GM2 expression in gliomas and other neuroectodermal tumors.
