Overview

DMAb-1 + DMAb-2 (also known as INO-A002) is a DNA-encoded monoclonal antibody (DMAb) combination developed by INOVIO Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with The Wistar Institute and AstraZeneca for COVID-19 prophylaxis. Unlike traditional monoclonal antibodies produced in bioreactors, this platform delivers plasmid DNA encoding neutralizing antibodies directly into the patient's skeletal muscle using the CELLECTRA electroporation device. This allows the patient's own cells to serve as a "bioreactor" to produce and secrete functional antibodies (mirroring tixagevimab and cilgavimab) into the bloodstream. The approach aims to provide long-lasting passive immunity with improved scalability and stability compared to protein-based biologics.
