dMAb PD-1 is a DNA-encoded monoclonal antibody (dMAb) technology developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with The Wistar Institute. Unlike traditional protein-based monoclonal antibodies that require frequent intravenous infusions, dMAb PD-1 involves the delivery of synthetic DNA sequences encoding optimized versions of anti-PD-1 antibodies (such as pembrolizumab or nivolumab) directly into the patient's cells. Once administered via a local injection, the patient's own cells produce the functional PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor in vivo for extended periods. This platform aims to simplify the administration of checkpoint blockade therapy by converting long intravenous infusions into a single local injection, potentially improving patient compliance and reducing the burden of care in immuno-oncology applications.
