Drug intelligence / Profile preview
dMD-001 is an ultrapurified alginate-based biomaterial developed by Mochida Pharmaceutical for the treatment of focal articular cartilage defects. The product is a hydrogel scaffold designed to be implanted into cartilage lesions in the knee or elbow resulting from trauma or osteochondritis dissecans. By providing a biocompatible structural environment, dMD-001 facilitates the migration of endogenous cells and supports the regeneration of hyaline-like cartilage. The material utilizes a proprietary purification process to remove impurities from seaweed-derived alginate, thereby minimizing potential inflammatory responses and enhancing its safety profile for clinical use.
