DMR2301 is a long-acting recombinant human fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) analog developed by Shanghai Domirui Biotechnology for the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). As an FGF21 agonist, it targets the fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) complex in conjunction with the co-receptor β-Klotho. This activation modulates key metabolic pathways, leading to improved lipid metabolism, reduced hepatic steatosis, decreased inflammation, and the potential reversal of liver fibrosis. The drug is designed with an extended half-life to allow for less frequent dosing compared to native FGF21, aiming to address the underlying metabolic dysregulation and liver damage associated with MASH.
