Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DMU-281 (4'-hydroxy-3,4,5-trimethoxystilbene) is a methoxylated resveratrol analogue and a metabolite of DMU-212. It is being investigated for its potential as an anticancer agent, particularly in the treatment of colorectal cancer. The compound demonstrates cytotoxic activity by inducing cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and triggering apoptosis through both intrinsic and extrinsic pathways, evidenced by the activation of caspases-3, -7, -8, and -9. DMU-281 was designed to improve upon the poor bioavailability and pharmacokinetic limitations of resveratrol.
