Overview

DMX-101 is a designation used for two distinct clinical-stage therapeutic candidates. The first, developed by DIMERx, is a peripherally acting buprenorphine dimer designed as a non-addictive analgesic for chronic pain and gastrointestinal disorders. By acting as a dimer, the molecule is engineered to target peripheral opioid receptors while minimizing central nervous system exposure, thereby providing potent pain relief without the risk of addiction. The second asset, also known as ER-004, is a first-in-class recombinant protein replacement therapy co-developed by Dermelix Biotherapeutics and EspeRare. It is intended for the treatment of X-Linked Hypohidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia (XLHED), a rare genetic disorder caused by a deficiency of the Ectodysplasin A (EDA) protein. This therapy is administered in utero via intra-amniotic injection to replace the missing protein and correct developmental defects, such as the inability to sweat, before birth.
