Overview

DMX4001 is an investigational immunomodulatory therapy developed by Phaim Pharma for the prevention and treatment of type 1 diabetes. It is based on Phaim’s Antigenic Immune Modulation (AIM) platform, which uses a long-acting injection with an adjuvant to induce a pro-inflammatory response that recruits antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to the injection site. These APCs absorb disease-specific antigenic epitopes contained in the drug, leading to expansion of regulatory T cells that recognize antigens relevant to type 1 diabetes (such as insulin-secreting beta cell antigens). The expanded regulatory T cells then migrate through the bloodstream to target organs like the pancreas, where they suppress auto-aggressive T cell populations and help restore immune tolerance, potentially preventing or delaying autoimmune destruction of beta cells. Preclinical animal studies have shown normalization of blood glucose and desired modulation of T cell function. DMX4001 is currently being prepared for clinical trials in type 1 diabetes; psoriasis is also mentioned as a future indication[1][3][7].
