Overview

DN001 is a recombinant botulinum toxin type A (BoNT/A) being developed by Suzhou Dixinchenke Biotechnology for aesthetic and therapeutic applications, specifically targeting moderate-to-severe glabellar lines. Produced via recombinant protein expression systems rather than traditional bacterial fermentation, DN001 aims to provide a highly purified and consistent alternative to existing botulinum toxin products. Its mechanism of action involves the selective cleavage of SNAP-25, a protein essential for the docking and fusion of acetylcholine-containing vesicles at the presynaptic membrane of neuromuscular junctions. This inhibition of acetylcholine release results in localized muscle relaxation and the reduction of dynamic wrinkles. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials in China.
