Overview

DN002 is a recombinant botulinum toxin type A2 (recombinant A2-type botulinum toxin) being developed by Suzhou Deneugen Biotechnology for the treatment of cervical dystonia. As a neurotoxin, it acts by binding to synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2 (SV2) receptors on presynaptic nerve terminals, followed by internalization and subsequent cleavage of synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25). This cleavage prevents the assembly of the SNARE complex and inhibits the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, leading to localized muscle relaxation. DN002 is currently in Phase I clinical development in China.
