Overview

DNA GEO-D03 is an investigational DNA plasmid vaccine developed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for the therapeutic treatment of HIV-1 infection. The vaccine is engineered to co-express HIV-1 virus-like particles (VLPs) containing Gag, Pol, and Env antigens, alongside granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), which serves as a molecular adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. In clinical development, DNA GEO-D03 is typically utilized as a priming agent in a heterologous prime-boost regimen, followed by a boost with the MVA/HIV62B vaccine. This strategy is intended to stimulate robust cellular and humoral immune responses in HIV-1 infected individuals who are virologically suppressed on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).
